Hi there

I'm 27 gambling became a problem for me about a year ago when I lost all my savings 8000! From there on I have managed to get myself into a very large dept that I now have a loan for. I only bet on sports betting. My mum and dad and partner are aware and I'm doing my best to face this problem that has came into my life. I don't know how it's got this bad or why this is happened I work full time and work hard to earn my money I want to beat this and win. tonight is a massive step forward for me and reading everyone stories it's comforting knowing your not alone.

Best regards ash23

Welcome Ash.

You can recover from this. My advice is stop now and things will quickly get better. I should have stopped at 8k but I didn't stop until 60k. Just keep focused and everything will get better, trust me on that.

Tom

welcome to the forum ash23

There is no shame in admitting you had an addiction and you will take a pride in rebuilding your life.

It does take this phoenix moment and you must reach out for all the help on offer. There is no room for complacency and you must keep discussing with your mum and your family what you will learn on this forum.

It does take serious blocks like self exclusion and living on a sandwich allowance while you build a healthy mind again.

Still as part of my recovery I dont accept cash from my parents as they offered to boost my electricity with their winter fuel allowance. After a lovely meal out with them my mum watched me put the money on my keycard. I like it like that because Its part of my monitoring and recovery.

These are the people that love me and I dont take any cash from them without them seeing directly where it is going. I dont gamble now but its still part of my secure recovery process.

So keep focused and you really will begin to finally see whats important

It gets better, you feel calmer and you will let the past go. With thought processes you will realise that that money is gone and your relationships are more important then money. there will be more money for you and you will spend it wisely

Best wishes from everyone on the forum
