Dear Diary. Day 49 gamble free.
I ended up having a chat on Netline last night. Something had really got to me and triggered an urge to gamble. Grateful yet again for the time, patience and advice from the advisor. I got through the urge, all good for another gamble free day.
I went to work a little later than planned last night, that wasn’t a problem. Didn’t need to be there urgently.
I fell in a dark car park and managed to damage a finger so ended up in a very busy A&E department in the small hours of this morning. It didn’t really feel as though I should be there with such a minor injury but it is my ring finger and I knew I had to get my wedding ring removed pretty quickly. It had to be cut off ? (ring not finger). Anyway, I have been put back together and my finger is still nicely numb from the anaesthetic block. The nurse asked me if I wanted something for the pain. I said yes please but nothing with opiates in. I was given something appropriate and then someone brought some stuff for me to take home, oromorph and cocodamol. I politely declined and explained why I did not want it. If it starts to hurt, over the counter stuff will do nicely.
I have also managed to acquire a black eye with a large cut down to my cheek, a bruised elbow and a lovely graze on my forearm. I shall be looking glamorous this Xmas ?.
I haven’t managed to catch up on any sleep yet today so I am going to try for a nap now..
All being well, I will wake up tomorrow to my 50th gamble free day. I will be happy with that x
Oh you having some tests thrown at you...stay this side of the tracks..
You are doing great x
Boo ?
I am sorry to hear you are injured and that your ring had to be cut.Â
I hope you heal quickly and it doesn't hurt too bad.Â
Drama. x
Thank you Boo x
Definitely still on the right side of the tracks. A long night in A&E was more than enough to remind me how lucky I am. Just a few bumps and bruises, nothing more than something to amuse my work colleagues with. Many more people much less fortunate than me. I am just completely accident prone ?
I don't have to do my on call tonight. Boss says it wouldn't be safe with a mallet splint on my finger. Not sure if I am glad or not, I had actually forgotten it was Sunday.Â
My left eye has completely closed now, I am going to look lovely in the morning. Watching (or half watching) 80s music channel. Fab!

Really sorry to read of your accident Murlo. I hope you manage to get a good nights slip and your injuries heal quickly.
Not long now and you will be arriving at the Half Century. You may be looking a bit bedraggled but throughout your journey you have shown great style, composure and dignity. I also applaud your courage, determination and great sense of humour.
Many thanks for all the support you have given to myself and others on the diaries. I feel honoured to be walking this road alongside good people like yourself.

Thank you so much Stephen. I can see the funny side of my injuries. I am not in pain so that is a blessing. 50 days here I come!
It is 10pm on a Sunday and I am going to bed shortly. This could be the first Sunday in 7 weeks where I have not had a meltdown. That would be just fabulous!Â
Take it easy murlo.. You going to be a bit sore and bruised.. Allow yourself to healÂ
Boo. ?
Wise word as always Boo. Thank you x
Day 50. Made it
?? Well done
Boo x
Thank you Boo xÂ
Has a bit of a restless night last night, I think it was mainly my war wounds from the fall. My finger is a little sore now and so is my face. I don't think any amount of makeup is going to cover my shiner ?.Â
I have the joys of fracture clinic this morning. That could be a long wait...
Fifty days ago today a star was born.
The most magnificent Murlo has battled bravely and shown herself to be a Gamcare Warrior of the highest order.
I take off my hat and raise my glass to a most delightful heroine of the diaries who is also a remarkable lady. May I take this opportunity to congratulate you on your excellent progress.
