Hi 13 Aug

Still 2 positives you are up ( as long as you don't withdraw it) and you have been honest with yourself

You will never get those lifetime losses back the stake has gone too high let go withdraw 92 quid and carry on

Stop now because we cannot win because we cannot stop

Hi 13th! Seems your problem is avoiding the URGES! Whenever you feel an urge to gamble - why don't you jus log on to the forum and talk everybody to death?? That's what I have been doing - it takes up your time and it goes quickly! I should add..... you DO MEED some determination ....keep trying. NEVER GIVE UP TRYING!! Before I came to this site, I gave up gambling every week, for a day, relapsed always, big time! Take the help and support on offer here - but remember you gotta REALLY TRY!!! Helen. X

Sorry to hear your plight been there done it so many times and know how you feel the losses have gone chasing them just makes it worse try and remember the days you didn't gamble and how good it feels to not even give them a pound let alone anymore I know it's easier said than done but you can do it x

Well done for stopping but ask yourself this, if you weren't 400 up would you have carried on? This is a big let off. Look at how things would be now in your life if you were 600 down! Whatever debts or money struggles you have it will not be solved by gambling. Use this 400 wisely pay off things or treat yourself to something that can remind you of this day and how it could have been a lot worse.

Hi August

Just seen your post and cringed because I can feel your pain.

You are so right it's not about the money in the end, it's about the addiction to gamble and keep gambling, we don't care when in the midst of it about the money, we just NEED to keep playing because we are addicted to playing not winning at the end, in reality we lost as soon as we started chasing.

Each time we slip, we learn more, carry on and don't be too hard on yourself, make that choice again and again if need be.

Sending you positive thoughts.

Take care

Suzanne xx

Hi August,

Where do you see yourself in ten years time?

If you think you would have made it gambling by then, i am afraid the odds are too highly stcaked against you.

If you want guaranteed odds of winning everyday my advice to you would be to stop now and never go back.

Everyday you do not gamble is a day that you have beaten the bookies and have taken one more step closer to being wealthier and happier.

Thats how i am getting through, nearly 2 weeks now without so much as a quid on a bet.

I told my wife about the gambling and debt i have built up last night too. I have wanted to tell her for months but never found the right time............truth is there never will be, but by telling her i feel more optimistic and confident of beating this addiction and having her support is priceless.

Let people in to help you, yes it will be tough at first but once you get it all out you will be able to move on with confidence, trust me, it is a leap you must take in order to truely recover.

Sit down and set yourself a goal - i am assuming it will be to stop gambling. Then question how you are going to achieve this and what you need to do. Write it all down. Ask yourself when will you know you have reached your goal. Be honest with every question you ask yourself and you will surprise yourself with the answers you give. Write it all down to reflect on.

Good Luck!!

Great to hear. Whenever I feel I may be tempted I always go back to a time when, after a mad binge, I ended up with a panic attack and didnt think I'd have enough money to pay even basic rent and then there were the loans on top of that. Without gambling they seem to be so much easier to pay off and i have time for enjoying other things in life. I do not believe a compulsive gambler can ever make money as there doesn't seem to be a limit and losses ALWAYS out way any small wins. Ask anyone on here.
