So I decided to keep a journal on here. Seemed like a good thing to do, somewhere to write when I feel bad or feel good or have far too much going on in my head.

Today I sold quite a few of my items and stupidly spent some of it already. But I did quite well, I managed to stop myself after £20 rather than spending it all. And I feel quite happy about that.

Today I woke up very hungover after a family meal and many glasses of wine and my anxiety was very very high. What didn't help was the fact that one of my friends wouldn't leave me alone. I think modern technology is driving me crazy at the moment. You ignore a text and then you get a Facebook message, a what's app message, a snap chat and it made me want to hide I couldn't cope and that's when I gambled.

I think I'm going to try and cut technology out of my life as much as I can for a while. Make sure that I only use my phone in emergencies and also try and ween myself away from Facebook. It's not the stopping the gambling that's the hard part, it's the trying to sort out my head. Try and remove anything that will make me anxious and make me hide away.

Sorry if anyone actually read that! My thoughts from my messed up head. Now to get some sleep!

Hello Booknerd

Good to see you start a recovery diary.

It would seem that anxiety is your main problem and you use gambling as the solution.

I know from your other thread that you have never found counselling useful. I would suggest CBT therapy. It is used to treat anxiety and is also considered useful for helping with gambling addiction.

Like counselling it comes with no guarantees, but might be worth a try.

Well done for managing to stop yourself and identifying some triggers.

Keep learning and making progress.

Best wishes

Glint
