Been a hectic weekend, with no gambling involved. Walked round London on Saturday, and yesterday went looking for new kitchen, my wife said the money I'd used to gamble would pay for a new one, I held my hands up and agreed, our one is 18 years old. Had guilty feelings about the money iv waisted over the years, which has made me more determined to get out of the old routines. Not thought about gambling all weekend, being busy defenetly helps.stay strong everyone!!!

When you get an urge remind yourself how strong you were this weekend and how good it felt, and that you CAN abstain!

Thanks jenilee, yes need to stay strong, iv done loads of overtime last couple of weeks, and by the end of March, we get really busy at work and even tho I say I'm not, I always end up working 7 days a week.and that's when I end up gambling, but being excluded from my local 3 bookies will make me think twice about it, and with a GOOD BIT OF WILLPOWER I'll stay gamble free!!!! Now just gotta pay for a new kitchen......!

Is there another treat or fun activity you could plan for yourself besides gambling? Let's face it every activity cost less than gambling. And it is tough to stop gambling when we put no fun plans in its place.

It's hard, because I work long hours, and my wife works 2 nights of the week, don't get much time for hobbies ect. I used to play snooker (and so did my wife) for a team, I'd like to get back into that now my daughter is 15, tho don't know if my eyesight will let me now!!!!! Like you say, any activity will cost far less than gambling!!

Maybe when you get bored you can make a challenge for yourself a game like put a timer on for five minutes and in five minutes you have to try to think of at least 20 fun ideas that don't involve gambling you can start big or small they don't all have to be realistic right now but just get yourself thinking. Or maybe you could start a separate list of ones that are doable now and then eventually goals? Just some ideas

Thanks for your ideas and support janilee, we all need to be doing things to stop the boredom, cos when you've got nothing to do, the demons will come a callin' and I don't want to listen to them anymore!!!
