We'll I went a month with out a bet, then got paid and lost £200. My partner just found out & this was my last chance. As you can guess it has not gone down well! I'm currently miles away from my home just sat in my car. I do not know why I keep doing it. I just cannot stop. I think this time I have lost my partner and daughter, why do we do this! I risked £200 over my family! When you put it like that it's sad.
Hi DarkDays,
You keep doing it because your a compulsive gambler. I'm in recovery myself.
I've seen your other post have you sought counselling via Gamcare and or gone to GA yet ?
If you haven't you need to and quickly.
Contact your partner and apologise and tell them you intend to prove to them that you have sought help (and do it). You may still be able to rescue this situation. Put your finances in the hands of your partner for the forseeable future.
Put the block on online gambling by using K9 and get your partner to set the password (they keep it secret) on all devices.
Self exclude from High St bookies if you have used them.
YOU NEED TO TAKE NOTICE OF WHAT I'VE POSTED TONIGHT.
You know you can beat this addiction. It can be done DarkDays. You know it needs to be done. The urges will subside once the gambling free days mount up.
Your reward will be a much happier future for your family.
Take Care Now
Dark days
Mr stop said some very wise words, I will second them fella, often in life we don't know what we have lost until it's gone.
You said you are in the last chance saloon, my advice take the opportunity, take every piece of advice, the wealth of help and support and give recovery a real chance.
Gift yourself the opportunity to take control of your life, compulsive gambling is a terrible addiction, I relentlessly gambled to within one day of losing my family home.
I lied, cheated, stole, schemed to get my dirty hands on every penny earned to feed addiction.
Eventually I sought to take my own life, fortunately I was stopped by a samaritan and broke.
I have walked in your shoes, I was so deluded by addiction I couldn't see any other way of living.
Fella there is another way.
Yes it's not easy, addiction will live with you like it does me for life.
Find a GA room, go there, pin your ears back and listen.
The folk there are recovering too, they won't judge you, they will offer unconditional support and help.
Don't leave anything to chance, our luck was used up long ago.
The advice gifted to me on my first days recovery still works today over three years on.
There is a triangle
Time-money-location
Take one away and the next punt becomes impossible, gifting the rational side of the brain time to think, time to re wire your addled brain.
I hope you embrace recovery, it will reward your efforts.
It is on offer, only you can choose to take it.
Abstain and maintain
Duncs stepping forward never back.
Hi guys,
Thanks for the wise words! As for attending GA I must admit I have not tried this, I know everyone is in the same situation but I feel embrassed to attend if I'm honest.
I am going to, as it is a new route which could hopefully work for me. I have not tried K9 either, does this apply to mobile phones? As this is my biggest downfall. I will look in to this.
Thanks guys.
J
