13 days free of gambling

180 days to go

104 pounds saved.

323 paid off.

0 spent on gambling

Chilled evening seeing my friend in leeds, paid for my meal which was a bonus as had expected to spend 20 pounds on food and drink. Sort of takes off the pressure as I usually spend money at the weekend and think, "let's try and win that back so it was a free weekend", which actually sometimes turns into a 2/300 pounds loosing spree. Anyway off to watch the Tour de France

Wow those 2 weeks went by quick. Very tiring day cycling from near leeds to Harrogate (the short cut not the one the professionals did) steady 40 mile round trip but it was such a fun day and puts everything into perspective. Got more of a buzz and feeling alive than at any other point this year. Definitely got my life music turned right up at the moment. More on that tomorrow. zzzzz

15 days free of gambling

178 days to go (33 until 2 week holiday)

120 pounds saved.

423 paid off - forgot 100 went out on 23rd.

So back to the grind tomorrow but survived the weekend pretty well, didn't even look at the odds on tennis or anything.

A new feature every Sunday for me will be how the volume is turned up in different aspects of my life to drown out the gambling:

Life - 6 (10 being the loudest)

Family/Friends - 5

Gambling - 5

Financial Worry - 8 (this is worse than the noise from gambling and hopefully over time will be turned down)

Long day at work finalising a pricing menu model for over 100 pubs. Yes I'm the guy that hikes up prices in pubs for meals although we do also reduce them to make it more appealing too :). Just time for a budget shop, total spend 5.06 using a voucher for 1.14 that I got last time. Amazing what you can get for a fiver when being careful, makes me realise how crazy my shopping was after a big win.

So today went really quick. Tonight will be interesting as at work I got Germany in the sweepstake (don't consider this as gambling due to it not being secretive and on my mobile, which is my problem). Anyway might get 20 quid if they go through to the final so cheering them on tonight. But will use this as cash to pay back debts not to re bet, that old me is gone.

Thanks Womble I'm coming round to the idea of It being a fools game. Cheers dunc keep up the diary your helping so many people on here. Anyway today was at a meeting all day and chilling outside during breaks, finishing the day with a game of rounders. Loving life but aware that my last slip up came after about 35 days so this test is still to come.

19 days free of gambling

So bit of a set back this morning as I found out I failed an exam I spent ages studying for in May (although slightly hampered by trying to stay clean). Had a good chat with my boss at work and he doesn't seem to bothered and is confident I can resit in Nov and still get my expected pay rise. More of an incentive to stay clean so my studying is not impacted. Out for a couple of drinks with work tonight but driving so I have an excuse to keep it a cheap night.

Bored at work so checking in early. Something I look forward to every day doing this update. Cant say I've had any thoughts of gambling in the last couple of weeks. Hit the 3 weeks tomorrow I'd say about half way to safety as there is still the financial pressure but not going back to old ways.

Day out with a friend in Matlock today, this is something I should be enjoying and I did to a certain extent but was counting every penny and may have come across a bit tight. Spent a bit more than I should but hopefully will not lead me to gambling to get that money back.

So I write this report in a pssed off mood as I forgot to cancel a free credit report with equifax and 9.95 has come out of my account. Anyone looking to check their credit score don't use them as you don't get a score but a report that told me all things were fine which they obviously weren't. Anyway rant over but that's a tenner that could have gone towards food or something else. 🙁

Hello, am pretty new to this forum and have been reading a few diaries but yours struck a few chords with me. Particularly the bit about going for a night out but gambling to try and make it a free night-so many of my massive losses have started in this way!

I like the way you're going about things, and think there's definitely elements I will look to use in my own recovery.

Ironically, I too attended the play off final though it was the league one version, and it ended a little better for my team. Roll on the first day of the season derby vs rotherham!
