Good reading and good to hear.WELL DONE XX
Shiny,
Great post. I especially loved the last paragraph with which I agree totally. We need to be able to get into something else or something new putting in as much effort into our new interest as we did our gambling. At the beginning the something new might be our recovery diary and this forum. Once we get by the initial stages of our recovery we may need something else to focus on and in my experience I will probably always need something to focus my energy on. Whether that be running a marathon, quitting smoking, eating healthier, reading more books etc.
That was a lovely touch from your husband regarding the earrings. Many, including me, would say that no-one deserves such happiness more than you.
Still expecting some sort of Gucci watch.
Tomso.
hiya Shiny..
I think its great you are emerging out of your comfort zone and I could do with doing the same as i am still isolating....as they say in the rooms....fake it til you make it and I would also be sat with a book ...lol
Your hubby sounds like a chap that feels it but maybe doesnt show it but those earrings are a lovely gift and he obviously has thought not just about the gift but about when you could wear them.....xx
You do deserve good things and you must receive them and not feel unworthy Shiny.....shiny earings for a Shiny lady....like attracting like....
Its time for you to glitter and sparkle as only fairys do..
have a good day.....

ps...waiting for the cows head to arrive under my pillow..lol
Hey Shiny
What a great post from you last night and so true i truely believe that recovery isnt just about stopping gambling and holding on for dear life.
Its so challenging pushing yourself all the time but I think the more we do it the more we understand about ourselves and our limitations and we can keep pushing the boundaries every so slightly each time.
How sweet is your hubby im sure the earrings are beautiful and maybe its his way of saying thanks also for making the effort im sure your family see only to well the change in you.
Your post on my diary did make me laugh, dont worry you wont be turning up looking like a giraffe leopard or tiger lol.
If by mutton dressed as lamb you mean you will avoid certain styles that show too much flesh, I understand that but If you mean you don’t want to wear anything colourful or playful and especially not anything trend oriented then we shall be discussing that further lol, just because your middle aged doesnt mean you have to become invisible .
So question my shiny friend 2 parts of your body that you really like ? This is all in the name of reasearch to find that perfect DRESS lol ?
Or just tell me to bog off and your wearing your jeans lol

Yo,
Everything is hunky dory ..........
Feet planted firmly in the middle . Finding less time to post , cause isolating myself less less and less .
Think the holiday played a massive part in me regaining some equilibrium and really must not wait 18 to do it again. I think I must see it as a need to keep me well , as opposed to a choice .
No thoughts of gambling . Made up sooooooo many seem to be in a good place on here , that middle lane gang seems to be increasing on a daily basis . Bloody Marvalous .
Have a grrrrreeeeaaaaat weekend you all,
Shiny xxxxxxxxx
Jungle Pete how very dare you, mind you if my posts send Rach and the Steg to sleep , I really would be a happy bunny 🙂 lol
middle lane is good ...
less posts is an indication that you are ready to branch out...with more holidays booked.
All hogging the middle lane now..gridlock....lol

Oh Shiny one,
Thanks for popping by on my diary and the support, I am still amazed at how much people support each other by reaching out on this site.
You are right, I fell, grazed knees and a bruised arm but people are here on this site to help pick me up, just when we start to think getting up might be too dificult a virtual hand comes down to pull us up that little bit straighter.
You seem in a good place at the moment and that is a good place to be. You certainly deserve it and I reckon you should start planning that next holiday soon......
Take care
Paulds

Hi Shiny, sorry I'm late getting back I've been really busy what with work and Maisie. Thanks for the post, glad to hear you're still going from strength to strength, it's lovely to hear when someone finds peace and contentment. Fills my heart with joy. These past six months have been good to me and to you too, we have both learned a lot about true values in life and what makes us tick. I don't know about you but the things that use to plague me with fear have gone through my own realisations and facing ip to them. I too feel in a stronger better place for this journey and I'm looking forward to the road ahead.
Keep shining, keep cruising along enjoying the view in that middle lane instead of worrying what lies up ahead.
Steve
