well i have been on the site for 3days now and decided after initially introducing myself now was the right time to start my diary,

as my big downfall was inplay betting on the football i always know saturday and sundays will be my toughest days of the week, and after some encouragement from my partner (who bough supplies) i have decided to turn back to my first past time hobby - art, now when i ever get the urge to put a bet on, instead of reaching for my phone or laptop i am now going to reach for a pencil or paintbrush,

so from 12:45pm - 7:30pm i have drawn and painted to keep my mind off puttin just a pound on a teams win

Rob

welcome to the forum a place where you will receive a great deal of help, support and some outstanding advice.

firstly a huge well in the fact that you have addressed your addiction and even more so that you have found something to fill the huge void of time with, for me we threw not only our hard earnt at gambling but also a great deal of time in doing so.

I am a huge football fan and used to use football gambling to fund my nemesis the fobt, today I watch football for what it is sport, today I enjoy it more than the twenty years I gambled upon it, last minute goals or the lack of them are purely today for enjoyment, I don't shout at the tv and put my family through the emotional turmoil any longer that came with my own compulsion to gamble.

I hope you get as much use and resolve from your diary as I have and continue too.

Recovery is an amazing gift,it's free and the result is you gift yourself the constant opportunity to be a winner.

My advice the same advice that was gifted to me on my first day's recovery, it still works today.

There is a triangle,

Time - Money - Location

Take one away at all times and the punt becomes impossible, gifting you the chance to re wire your addled brain,it gifts you thinking time, time to let the rational side of your brain take control again.

By and large we are decent folk, just folk with a switch of sorts, one that is wholly destructive, for stopping be proud

Be kind to yourself, most of all enjoy it.

There is no cure, but a life choice.

The mantra we all live by whilst gambling

I CANNOT WIN BECAUSE I CANNOT STOP

is reversed each day you make the choice

No bet today.

Duncs stepping forward never back

Hi there, loving the idea of filling your time with artwork.

There are so many creative people on this site we ought to start a virtual gallery as it would be full of poetry, paintings and stories all in lieu of hours spent in front of mind numbing machines and so much more precious.

With you all the way.
