This diary will record my gamble free journey as I strive to be free from desire.

My income is sufficient that I can live in reasonable comfort and have a few laughs along the way so I have no reason to gamble.

Many times in the past I have thought that this, that or the other would bring me happiness but it never did, because I always wanted more.

It is good for me to appreciate and enjoy things but not to become too attached to them.

I need to experience calm and an inner peace...stephen

Hi Stephen,

Think about also those awesome experiences you have had most recently. Creating those memories and enjoying those moments.

I look forward to reading more adventures you have along your journey.

Take it easy.

CJ.

That is good advice CJ, thank you:

Enjoying good experiences, living in the moment and creating good memories.

That is the long term plan but for now I will just take things as they come and try not to do anything stupid...Stephen

Good morning Bella. I hope you are well.

Yes I have decided to start a new diary which will not simply focus on my being gamble free.

I will look at my life in a more constructive and less judgemental way ...Stephen x

Hi S, good luck with the new diary! Trying to focus on the memories and the laughs is good - and then striving to create new ones. And, keeping the constructive thoughts without the negativity can be tough, sometimes we can be so hard on ourselves!

Thankyou Sharon & Lil for posting on my new diary. I wish you a wonderful weekend.

All is well in my world. I woke up this morning which is always a good way to start to the day.

Earlier, I was reading that our planet is spinning quite fast whilst revolving round the sun and also travelling through space at an enormous speed. I thought that rather strange because it feels to me like the world is not moving at all. I suppose things are not always what they seem.

Stephen x

Stephen. I'm happy for you in your new found place of contentment and reflection. I think it is refreshing to view the world and our existence in harmony, escaping from the restraining attractions of indulgence, possessions or desires.

I am currently reading a book called 'Wake up and Soar', with the following extracts:-

"Suffering arises from our unwillingness to see, and accept, life as it actually is".

"There is a battle of two wolves inside us all. One is evil. It is anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, lies, inferiority and ego.
The other is good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, humility, kindness, empathy and truth.
The wolf that wins, is the one you feed".

All the best Stephen. You've already proven that you have a big heart and a kind nature.

Thank you Martin for your post on my diary. Wise words which I will come back to again and again.

Sadly I gambled yesterday and again today and now i am feeling very sad. I really need to have a good talk to myself.

I am going to take a little break from the diaries now but i will return...Stephen

Stephen, my friend, it’s time to free yourself from the world’s worst merry go round.

Could you maybe let your lady friend look after your finances for a little while? I remember reading on your previous diary that you were about to get paid your monthly pension and that you had to be extra vigiliant. Maybe now is the time to ask for further help?

You’re a good man, Stephen. You deserve so much better.

Hey Stephen,

I’m really sorry you slipped up, I done the same a few days ago just On those Facebook pages, broke even thankfully so didn’t f**k up my situation even more. I really hope you’re ok. Im struggling this week I’ve been working non stop and I’m exhausted and have barley been home honestly don’t know how much longer I can bare this. Didn’t properly finish my shift earlier and left the bar in a mess so now feel s**t for whoever’s going in to it in the morning. You’re a great guy Stephen, so encouraging for me and others I really wish more than anything you could kick this addiction, you do deserve better for yourself.

I wondered where you was Stephen. Gutted for you. But it's just a pothole in the road to your journey. You are with friends here. Not going to judge why or what's. So... Leave the diaries for now. Come join the Gamcare story that C.J. created. You're very good at writing. Join in and just forget the GFproblems. If you need to talk come chat on my page.
Big hugs sweetheart.
Bella xx

Hi Stephen, I'm sorry to hear that you relapsed. Like Merry go round said above please do not isolate yourself. We all need each other especially at times like these. We get down in life but we gotta get up, dust ourselves off and move on. I know you're strong Stephen you can do this. Gambling has never been our friend and never will be so we are better off staying far far away from it. You might be feeling that you've let everyone down but trust me Stephen we are not here to judge. We know how tough this recovery path is. Don't admit defeat my friend start a fresh journey. You can do this Stephen we are counting on you. Have a good day my friend.
