99.7 percent of people inside a bookies aren't problem gambalers. Is that because 80 percent haven't admitted to having a problem yet?
I would have liked it if they had at least mentioned slot games, funny how we all have different poisons but for me despite spending years in front of the FOBTs roulette/blackjack and the like never really interested me - sure I had a dabble every now and again and can see why it is so addictive as it is fast paced with the potential for large wins every few seconds but I was hooked on chasing a £500 gold pot on the slot games! (Hard to say of course but looking back if 'pots' didn't exist on the slot games I probably would never have got as sucked in as I did to them, I hardly ever played slot games that didn't feature the elusive progressive pots at the top!). Probably why I'm finding it easier to pack them in now compared to someone else as in recent years bookies have set most of their games to permanent £500.00 'Gold' pots so I don't find it as enticing to 'chase' (Bizarre I know! It is all about as meaningless as the number history on the roulette!)
So I was back at counselling today went well but they raised the point about how they thought it was crazy to have a gambling addict to go and take place in the simulator. Now I'm assuming the guy agreed to it all and found the results interesting as I'm sure we all did but thinking about it I kind of was a bit bonkers. I know they might argue that they needed a cg to show the change in the brain but would you take an alcoholic to a brewery and feed him drink as an experiment? You even heard him ask if he could bet his mythical £1000 in one go as they let him win. Just a thought. It was noted that the gentleman sadly relapsed and I'm wondering if it was connected? Anyway just something that no one seems to have mentioned.
He was a "recovering gambler" who later admitted he'd had a relapse but I see your point.
Affected by gambling?
