Day 1,

Back again. Determined but tired of repeating the same old pointless cycle. Feeling pretty down at the moment to be honest but I know that I will feel much more positive if I can start to rack up those gambling free days.

Best wishes to all.

Dave

Hi Dave

Thanks for coming back. It must have taken a lot when you're feeling so low. In the past you've mentioned internet gambling. How about putting some blocks in place to make it harder for you to gamble online? There's more information available at our website: http://www.gamcare.org.uk/get-advice/what-can-you-do .

You would be very welcome to call our helpline - details at the top of the page - and we can tell you more about the support that's available to you. You don't have to do this alone!

Take care,

Forum Admin.

Hi Dave,

It's a sh#t life the life of a compulsive gambler, you deserve better than it, we all do.

I'm back again for what feels like the hundredth time! What are you going to be doing differently this time?

If you can completely get rid of your access to money.

No money = no gambling.

Believe in yourself.

Day 28 (4 weeks),

I am starting to feel more positive about finally beating this addiction. I am going to begin counselling in the new year and spoke to a friend about my gambling addiction this morning. He was really supportive. It was a big deal for me as he was the first person other than my wife whom I have spoken to about this.

Best wishes to all.

Hey Dave, way to go on 5 weeks & well done for coming clean to your friend 🙂 It's easier to own the addiction when it's not a nasty little secret, you take control back - ODAAT

Caught up with a good friend today. I am an outgoing, sociable person who functions so much better when I am around other people. Onwards and upwards towards the weekend. Really looking forward to spending some quality time with my family over Christmas.
