Had a relapse on Thursday after 10 clean days but the positive was that although i obviously lost money i managed to stop with £250 in my pocket and though what the ***k am i doing here you idiot. It was as if i was floating to the betting shop without any thought and even when i put the money in the machine it was as if i was on auto pilot. Anyway day 4 and i think although this may sound stupid the relapse may have done me good. I have counselling on wednesday at the CAB so onward and upwards.

Thanks Triangle. Day 5 now and haven't though about gambling as such, I just get the urge to get on this forum which is a good thing. Counselling tomorrow so we shall see what that holds. Been reading other posts and setting goals or rewards seem to be a good idea! So this is what i am going to do, late last year i sold my most prize possession because i was skint, so my goal is to buy another as soon as i can, and if i don't gamble this should be easy! Its a Watch by the way!

Keep strong.

Hi delboygolf - Hope the session went well for you. A good idea of yours to have a specific goal to aim for - perhaps you could find a picture of said watch and keep it in a prominent place, say by your PC or in your wallet as a constant reminder of just one of the many things you can achieve by not gambling.

Hey Joanna,

Great idea about the watch!!! counselling went well wednesday and i am booked in again for 2 weeks time. Basically we talked about the reasons behind gambling which i think are pretty much the same for most of us and how we are going to overcome the temptation. basically much of the same stuff i get from this forum but it was nice to speak to some one face to face.

anyway its has been 8 days after my mini relapse and i am pretty sure that is not going to happen again. one day at a time as they say.

I have a busy weekend ahead so not time to even think of gambling let alone go to the bookies. The one thing we did talk about its the legitimacy of these FOTB machines that cause all the problems i personally think they are boarder line illegal as the number the ball lands in is known to the person behind the counter before it hits, surely this cant be right? surely this number is pre meditated by the numbers you bet?

anyway they wont be getting my hard earned ever again!

have a great weekend

Steve

10 days now for the second time, feeling good and really want to do this. not sure if i should tell my partner or not. This is something i need to do alone i think. not sure how she will react if i tell her. although its not her money ive done its mine but she has a very grim view on people who waste money through gambling and doesnt under stand that this is an illness for many people. we have had a few heated debates when gambling has been on the tv for example and she takes no sympathy with people like me(although she doesnt know that i am a CG) well hopefully not anymore!

Day 12. no urges today, the grand national on the weekend doesn't cause me a problem as i never bet on horses, the us masters golf is soon which is going to be tough because as a golf professional i would be obliged to have a bet. Not this year! funny thing is that in 20 years i have never had a winner in a major golf tournament, so its a no brainer not to bet!

Have a good gamble free day!

Hi CL, yes a team effort will be good, i had a Rolex GMT but sold it not to fund my gambling but just to live after loosing, so its funding really. I have my eye on the Deepsea seadweller and if you like watches you will know what i am on about, its 8k and that is my goal! i know its alot of money for a watch but i could of had about 5 of them if i never gambled so its better than gambling it away.

I will be keeping an eye on your posts.

regards

steve
