Today i want to stop gambling
Gambling has ripped a hole in my heart and it keeps destroying all that's good in my life
I want to stop gambling
well done triangle I wish u all the best in stopping gambling ive managed 78 days today so it can be done.
Hi Triangle
Would you be able to tell us a little more about your gambling habits? Was it in bookies or online? FOBTs? How long you been gambling? What has brought you here?
Hope you hang around long enough to give yourself the chance to live a better life than the one you had with gambling
Take care
i am new to recovery...again keep strong, come back and post to let us know how your are doing this forum is invaluable xx
thanks for the replies
its good to know i'm not on my own in this hell hole
my gambling was anything really
im not picky but i did most of my money on the bingo and roulette
so bloody addictive
ive tried stopping in the past and have stopped for periods of time but have always gone back to gambling for stupid reasons
why why why
anyways day 2 of this time and i'm gamble free today
keeping busy with the family today
catching up with them from times i lost
sad that i've missed that time
good now that i can be there for them
already noticed the amount of people who post for day few days and then you don't hear from them again
wonder what happens to them
are they well? happy?
do they keep bouncing back to gambling like me so far
Hello! Thanks for the post on my diary. I agree about trying something new and needing help with this addiction. I'm not ready to admit defeat in the real world so hoping that being more active on here and taking part in the challenge thread will give me the support I need. Hoping I can help others along the way so stop by my diary any time. Take care.
Triangle, get to a GA meeting asap mate, I doubt just coming on here can help you stop alone, you need as much support as possible in the early days especially.
Find your nearest meeting and just go, its not as bad you probably expect
Good luck pal
thanks half life
yes i have many of the blocks in place
handed over my money and it gets checked online
self exclusions as well although easy to get around but least they are there
my most important blocker is reminding myself i have a problem which i know from the past doesn't go away overnight
thanks
thanks plastic
have been to ga in the past
but guess what
i stopped going when things were going well so i know it works
not sure i want to go back but probably do need the support
so far day 3 so far so good
no gambling so far
hopefully there wont be any
Triangle I did the same, I went for about 6 weeks, stopped felt fine, did 20 months gamble free (have a look at my diary I started yesterday) then I had a relapse at xmas
Gone back to GA with tail between my legs 2 weeks ago, I know exactly what you mean about not being sure you want to go back, but If you REALLY want to stop, please go back it will help and you are going to need all the help you can get right now
They aren't pleasant at first but a d**n sight more pleasant than gambling your life away.
Don't make excuses mate, just go!!!
yes ill give it thought
part of me just wants to deny the whole thing say itll be ok problem solved
yet time and time again ive gone back to gambling so might be time for going back
really should look into some counselling too
Affected by gambling?
