Hi Tri,

Glad to see you're still here. I had couple of setbacks but am back on the road to recovery.

Keep thinking of the good things in life you can have and do when gambling is not a part of it.

still here

still not in a very good place

this addiction is so powerful

yes counselling GA and other therapies help

but then the bookies keep writing to me

i change my email address and phone and they find me

giving me free offers

how kind of them some might say

just ignore them some might say

easier said than done for someone who's an addict

i just feel so $£$%% off right now

I blame a lot of things for my addiction. Being pestered by bookies is one of them. The average man in the street won't be bothered by it, in fact they will be quite glad to hear what special offers are around.

You and me start thinking 'What if'

I'm going to try think 'What if I' win a £100, then lose a £10 then try to win the £10 back, then lose the £100, then feel like like lost £100 and gamble £200 to get it back, then lose that, then start lying to my friends and family about money....

You know how it goes buddy, I'm only 1 day in so fresh from the feeling!

Hi Tri,

I have always said on here don't ever underestimate the power of the addiction which is gambling.

It seems to me at this time, no matter how long we abstain, it comes back in different disguises every time, it ridiculous isn't it,

I wished there was an answer for all of us, after all my days weeks and months of being gamble free and actually hating the very idea of ever wanting to do it again, I really wanted to gamble yesterday, for the joy and excitement of it, I missed it terribly, what a f*****g joke, I guess it's like really wanting a cig, when giving up, the sad difference Tri is the smoking addiction does pass as the weeks and months clock up, this f*****g addiction does not seem to give up, it's like no other addiction, just when we feel we are strong safe and in control, it hits us in a different disguise every time, and it is soooo much more expensive and self destructing than smoking, because it affects our whole way of life, and sadly our families, I have yet to hear of someone committing suicide from smoking, but gambling, well we know that one.

You are doing brill stick with it, no matter what and we are all here for you, we are all in that ship that's wants to sail away forever from that addiction.

Take care and stay safe.
