70th day gamble free today. I have had many botched attempts at quitting during my decade of reckless gambling. I even managed 200 days last year before relapsing.

250k of money I can never get back, I wonder what quality of life I could of had, if addiction hadn’t set in. However I can not change that now and I know that.

I have contact Stepchange and they were fantastic but my current debts of 42k and paying £1000 a month are tough but reducing my monthly payments but then taking 12 years to pay it back is something that isn’t the right path for me. It’s tough as it stands but I can and survived paying this for many years, so my personal journey must carry on.

The sooner this is behind me the better. The important thing is being gamble free and not borrowing constantly. Everything else will fall into place.

Hi Kickstart

We are brothers in arms and I always look out for you as I'm on 74 days and our stories are similar. Also kickstart was my old company name that I built over 26 years, sold my shares for peanuts and got sacked from.

Keep it up and enjoy the better life. Debts are not the end of the world. I've not done it but some people have got interest and charges rebates for irresponsible lending.

@lp5vut869c Thank you the reply Stuart. Much appreciated as always.

For me it is a case of I’ve got myself in this mess so I’ve got 42 months to get myself out of it. During this long road ahead, I know that by being gamble free is far more important than the debt as that will after itself by being gamble free and not borrowing constantly.

Keep posting yourself Stuart and we can keep each other’s journey a successful one.

@lp5vut869c A lot of my debt are across 7 credit cards of which I switch between 0% balance transfer offers. So the only additional debt is the balance transfer fee each time of around 3%.
I do have 1 loan with a higher interest rate so I am trying to over pay on that to bring the overall term down to save me the additional interest.

In a weird way of being a gambling addict I was still always cautious in my types of borrowing but reckless in spending it on betting. Strange how our brains work.

Fortunately I have a decent job earning over 50k so it helps cover my payments but still horrific to think what life I could have with that additional spare money available to me.

But we keep battling on.

Kickstart this is amazing i like your way of thinking gamble free time is more important then the debt itself it a positive approach when i was in debt i went on social media and realised debt was quite common and alot of people are in it for different reasons however it was hard to comprehend as i didnt have anything to show for it or benefited from it so i stopped focusing on the debt as it wasent good for my mental health it hard but knowing being gamble free has value and having this way of thinking makes it alittle easier for me negativety and talking about finances is a trigger i have friends and family who love talking this openly i also realise even if i didnt gamble i wouldnt reach their expectations so i tend to avoid such discussions altogether
