Hi Everyone,

I am a compulsive gambler and I have no gambling to report. I am coming up to nearly a year off a bet and what a journey it has been so far.

I felt my life wasn't worth living, I felt I couldn't get past all the debt I had wracked up, there was no way out. I was completely wrong, I was able to deal with the debt issues and soon came to see it wasn't a financial problem I had but it was an emotional illness. I would gamble to escape, I was in self sabotage mode, no amount of win would ever have been enough to make me content it was a vicious cycle.

Since getting help I find I'm trying to be a better person, I sleep better at night knowing I'm not lying, trying to figure up excuses for lack of funds etc. I try to make amends for my wrongs by continuing to stay on a clean gamble free path. I attend my local weekly GA meeting which really does help, the amount of strength and encouragement within that room is incredible. A room once full of strangers is now a room full of people who like me have the desire to stop gambling and help other compulsive gamblers do the same.

It's amazing having some recovery behind me now and I guess I'd just like to say, if you are sitting struggling and don't see a way out, there really is, there is a better life off a bet. It's not easy but nothing worth having ever is. I hope this can help encourage someone who needs it.

Im a compulsive gambler and no gambling to report. One day at a time.

Well done !!! I crawled into GA nearly six months ago and was in a position like yourself. It's amazing what we can achieve isn't it. Turning 44 years of harm around one day at a time, building a new life to make amends, its only now that I finally start to feel proud of myself and enjoying life without gambling

Keep it up buddy

Well done on your milestone!!

It’s my 10 month GF anniversary today.

I can clearly remember the last day I ever placed a bet, I know this will be a battle for the rest of my life but, I will never bet again.
I totally agree about how things change once you are on your journey of recovery.

sleeping, socialising, relationships all these things change on your journey.

Good luck to everyone on their recovery journey.
