Really enjoyed this world cup. I'm only posting to show how you can enjoy sport once again without gambling and I don't say this just because it has been a world cup as it applies in general . I'm 266 days gf and a massive compulsive gambler on sport for over 20 yrs on mainly football.В  I genuinely never thought I'd be able to quit but after I finally reached my rock bottom I have never gambled since. I'm still many manyВ thousands in debt but I know I will not be adding to it and eventually the burden will be gone.

Everybody has their own agendas and breaking point but I finally reached mine 266 days ago. I was generally hoping to lose the last bet to be done with it all - stayed strong for a long time but so glad that I have the reassurance of GAMSTOP now just in case. Sports betters who want to quit - don't think about it, do it! How many people gamble hundreds or thousands on sports bets multiple times on a daily basis online? GAMSTOP prevents you from doing this and though you could always go to a high street bookie, you are far less likely to handover large sums over the counter and they may not even accept it anyway. For me, once you've been used to placing large bets the adrenalin boost we CGs need just isn't there for a small stakes bet in a bookie so it holds no interest even if I was tempted which I'm not.

My point is that I never thought I'd enjoy watching sport again in the same way. However, after a while the reason why you first fell in love with sport comes back. How many of us fall for the 'it matters more when there's money on it' c**P'? It starts like this and then it ends with not even caring for the result of your favourite team and your every conciousness is consumed with considering bets and angles on utterly irrelevant events such as under or over corners and no. of cards!

I haven't posted too much in the past - embarassed by my previous weakness and I've never felt able to offer advice like some of the amazing people that do so on here. How could I offer advice with so much debt and such a long gambling career?В  However, I just thought it was time I posted with something that might help sports betters as I've never been one for casinos and thankfully, I never got into online slots so know nothing about them. There is a way out, there always is, but you must genuinely want to stop and be ready to block ALL access to gambling. If you do, it does get better after a while and you will be more selective in what you watch and why but it is possible to go back to just enjoying sport for what it is - a recreation and leisure pursuit......
