have been gambling for years, years accrueing debt which got higher and higher, couldnt see anyway to pay off the debt apart from a 'big win' and ended up taking out payday loans credit cards etc, then ended up withe problem of the sky high interest rates and only way I could make the payments was then to take another which would end up paying the interest and the rest would probably be gambled, I would have the occasional win which was just enough to keep me beleiving I could turn it around ( I couldnt). Gambling has cost me the woman I love and the place I lived with her. Have closed all accounts now and self excluded, have a good job, but applying for a part time job as well to try and get the debt paid off as soon as possible. Obviously everyone has gone through bad problems- I wondered if anyone gone through a similiar situation as me? I am worried about relapsing and worried I might have blown it for good with my partner

Hello Nik f

Welcome to the forum it sounds like you have taken some positive steps in closing and self-excluding from your gambling accounts you may also want to think about installing blocking software onto the devices you use which will block your access to the online gambling sites. You can read more information about blocking software here http://www.gamcare.org.uk/get-advice/what-can-you-do/blocking-software#.VBwD8fldXww

If you would like to talk to someone about your gambling problem you can call our helpline on 0808 8020 133 and speak with an adviser or they can also be contacted through the netline http://www.gamcare.org.uk/support-and-counselling/frontline-services/netline#.VBhpbfldXww

Free one to one counselling is also available in some areas and advisers will be able to help you find your nearest service if you would like to explore this option.

The helpline and net line are open from 8am –midnight

Keep posting we are here to support you

Take care

Hi mate .
So sorry to hear whats gone on.
I know how it feels to lose the woman you love trust me on that, that feeling has never left me .
What you have to do now and the only thing you can do at the moment, is work on you, by that I mean work as hard as you can to fight the gambling, do stuff for you whether it is aim for a promotion, study something new, get fit etc, something that is gonna make you proud of you.
Maybe and honestly i hope you can work it out with her.
But you have to remember to fully love someone else, you need to be able to love and respect yourself.

The harshest but ironically truthful and wakeup call words I have heard where these, " how can I love you if I do not respect you"
