Hi
I just wanted to introduce myself, my name is Roxi & am new here. I am a compulsive gambler & have been for many years. I want to stop ...... all the lies, deceit, anxiety & fear. I want my life back & want to live being honest to those I love.
Reading posts on here are very helpful thank you. I wish everyone well with their recovery. For me it is online slots that are wrecking my life. I am restless & irritable if I gamble & also if I don't gamble!! Complete insanity! I am constantly obsessed. I will keep in touch with this site. I called Gamcare today for help & they have referred me for therapy.
Thank you Roxi x

Welcome roxi
Have you seen any post's regarding blocking software?
This can be done on both mobile and hand held device's. Either by gamblock, k9. There's other new one's to that are free. Also you can contact your Internet provider and put on the adult content block which may help

Anyway I'm sure you will of read all the tips so I will leave you with a massive welcome.
And all the best for your journey
Deano

hello rock

Welcome and things will get easier each day that goes by, I'am also addicted to the online slots and like you its wrecking my life. I want to change and have my normal life back, which I will. We can't keep giving our money that we work so hard for, to them. I think they have taken enough from us so no more to that. I'm on day 4 today so I know things will get easier and when I can pay my debts that will also make me feel happier. Keep updating your progress and I look forward to hearing how you get on

Yes in a moment of strength everyone, you must take the fight on and self exclude. you must have the Phoenix moment...click your fingers and its a new you so start properly fighting them off. Dont delay it...do it! Delaying is your body wanting to keep gambling. I delayed it for 10 months so I know all about that particular scenario

Im deadly serious here. There is NO room for thinking you will beat it with willpower alone. If there are no blocks it is almost certain you will relapse.

I mean serious exclusion blocks and gadgets handed over if you cant get effective blocking software.

Its an addiction that needs treating with the full fear and respect it deserves.

The point is that when you feel a twinge you will have to go off and do something else rather than gamble. Over time your mind will heal as it realises other things are more productive and fun....and youve still got your money in the bank!

Its not so much luck and counting the days. Its serious blocks so the days will rack up regardless. I hardly ever think of wanting to gamble. I like to help on this site which is when I think about what gambling did to me. Oh boy do I know its an illness and deadly addiction.

Together with counselling and all the help you can get from people close, you will learn how it controlled you in the past, how its never the answer and only the road to complete ruin

I wish you all the best in taking those proactive steps to make gambling history where it belongs

Hi joydivider, I totally agree with everything thing you have said , I have tried a few times in the past without having certain blocks in place and I have failed because I knew I could still do it as I always found a way around the ones that were there. I had self excluded from so many sites it was starting to become very difficult to find another but I always did .

This time is so much different , handed over my new debt card to my partner aswel as been very honest with him and my close family , put parental controls on my internet and I have finally admitted that I really do have a problem ... What is also different this time is that a truly want to stop for good! .. Other times I always knew in the back of my mind that I would do it again because I always convinced myself that the next time I will definitely only deposit £20 ,just for a bit fun as I did at first enjoy playing and that amount won't hurt anyone .... Never worked like that though .

Having the blocks in place really does help as I know that even if I wanted to I couldn't , I know it's still very early days but my way of thinking has completely changed because I actually want to stop this time and not because I have to or I've been told I have to ( even though I do ) . This site is helping me loads and for me seeing the days go up makes me feel even more determined.

Thank you

K
