I finally hit big and then of course gambled it all away again

I recently relapsed after not gambling much for five years due to personal and work stress. I was limiting myself to a certain amount a day and using a site I could easily withdraw winnings from. For about a week it went ok and I was actually up. But gradually I wanted and needed to gamble more and started using other sites. Then one day I was super super lucky, and won, I started withdrawing but you could just cancel and almost immediately I was betting that away. Then the run changed and I lost over and over again, betting more and more and more. On my last bet, I lost it all.

since then I’ve consistently lost every penny and run up a loss of about €5k.

i went back to what I know, cancelled cards, installed Gamban, put a block on bank account and moved most money to a joint with my partner.

as she always said, because I’m a compulsive gambler, I just need to remember a simple truth - whenever I deposit money, it’s gone right then and there. Whatever I win I will eventually gamble away, and whatever I lose I will chase and make worse.

if I want satisfaction I have to find it in other places less damaging.

thank you for reading this.

Hiya

That's very true what your partner said. Wins are just fuel for future losses and more. Operators are happy to give out bonuses of course because they know it will always come back and some.

Good luck getting back on the recovery road. Plenty of accountability and support on here by just logging in, posting and maybe coming to the chatrooms
