Hi

Sorry people on here must hear this all the time, but I'm new here not sure what to expect or how things will help me out.

I've just finished chatting to an advisor about my situation and I know I have a problem with gamberling but not sure how to stop? If I'm honest I'm not sure how chatting to someone will help me stop, as I feel I'm in such a lonely lost place and can't see an end.

I'd hoping maybe on here and getting things off my chest any advise anyone can give me may help me in long term

Thanks in advance

Hi,

I would just like to say hello and that it might not feel it now but you have done a great and positive thing by coming on the forum. I'm on day 2 today (which is nearly over ha), so I'm new to this like yourself. It is going to be a long journey, I have been online gambling with the slots for 6 years and I have got a lot of debt, it absolutely destroys me every day just thinking about it, but I know if I carry on gambling it will only get worse and I really don't want to think about what the outcome could be.

There are lots of people on the forum who will give you advice and there story's, they are worth a read and you will not need to go through this alone, we are all here to listen, as we are going through the same thing.

Please keep updating how you are getting on, each day and it really well help.

Chat Soon 🙂

Hi Firea3. welcome to the forum and well done for identifying you have a problem. Thats the first step which can be quite scary but you've made it. I have been free of gambling for 51 days now and my advice to you is to put all possible blocks in place you can so you break the 'triangle'. Self exclude from all the sites and betting shops you frequent, download software to help put controls in place (K9 is good) and if you can, try and find someone you can confide in to help you through this. Having someone to help with things like keeping your passwords for blocking software can be a great help. It may seem like a big task but just take things one day at a time, every day without gambling is another success and another step forward. I think a lot of us can relate to being in a bit of a haze the first few days at least but I promise you this will pass. Focus on the future, get your blocks in place and don't try to rush it. There are so many great people here who will help support you and provide advice. Read some posts and diaries, you will soon see you are not alone. Good luck with your recovery 🙂
