Hello
32 yr Female here
I joined the site today in the hope of tackling my slots addiction before it gets way out of control
I need to stop now!
This has to be it!
It cannot continue, I'll be keeping a diary.

Hi Anon
Welcome to the Forum. I wish you well. I am too addicted & obsessed by slots. Keep close to this forum. The advice is invaluable. Hope you find some peace. Take care Roxi 🙂 I called gamcare & have been offered some free counselling. Maybe you may find it helpful too x

Good morning, thank you both for your messages.
The slots are the devil, I have no interest in online but put me in front of a machine and am willing to do battle. 🙁

Wouldn't it be something to be worry free at xmas

I am feeling positive today. Here's to day 3

Hi and welcome to the forum. Well done for being here. If it's slots on the machines in the bookies, I'd recommend phoning 08002942060 to self exclude from all shops in your town and local area. See the light, one 15 minute call can change your life. It has mine. The weight literally lifted from my shoulders after this call. I wish you well and here's to a very happy Christmas ☺

I had time and money last night and live minutes away from the dreaded slots, I didn't go anywhere near then and I'm so pleased. I also have a habit of buying a scratchcard whenever I get petrol, I know it doesn't compare to my slots habit as it is only ВЈ 2 twice a month but I bought petrol without getting one last night.
So far so good
My real test will be my next payday. This is when I tell myself I have ВЈ700 to spend that I won't miss so a couple of hundred on slots won't hurt, when really I should be saving. I have opened an ISA and arranged for £800 to go in every payday. I'll uninstall the banking app on my phone to stope moving money from account to account too.

I can't really ban myself from bingo as a lot of family meet ups are there, my lot are big on bingo but I will stay away unless absolutely necessary but I'm positive I can do this

How are you doing? 🙂

Hi Half-life,
thanks I totally get what your saying.
I have told some of them and don't plan on hanging around there anytime soon

Echo HL. If you were to tell your family that you'd prefer to meet them somewhere else, it might turn out that despite appearances, you're not the only one who struggles? Those machines are very addictive.

Thanks that is a real good idea.

I was asked to go on a bingo trip to another city and I said no, it went down rather well, no questions asked. Didn't even need an excuse

Hi, firstly there's nothing to be embarrassed about. I told family and friends immediately I was cutting out the slots gambling. In most cases people were very supportive.

I don't really play bingo, but both online and offline whenever I have, I always ended up playing the slots much more. I reckon that bingo clubs and websites probably earn more from slots than bingo.

You could always try to just take the money you actually need for bingo. I'm sure if you needed to borrow a fiver or tenner for something unexpected someone in the group would lend you it.

Moving money immediately out of harms way into another account without a card is also a very good idea and something that went a long way in helping me. You could also look at saving accounts that you have to give notice to before you can withdraw.

At first you'll be apprehensive about locking money away, but once you budget, you'll know how much to lock away so you can deal with an unexpected problem such as a boiler breakdown.

Thanks Steve, some good ideas there. You're right, if I do have to attend I'll publicly announce that I cannot go on the slots so don't let me.
You're absolutely right, I shouldn't be embarrassed I should be proud to have realised I have a problem with slot machines. Of my family know then they definitely wouldn't encourage it, they'd stop me if I were to attempt it. Also the thought of one of them walking in and seeing me playing knowing I have a problem is mega off putting

Light bulb moment happening here
