Day 104, just on my way to Northampton to see Tranmere get beat again. Or maybe we will actually win, but I'm still to see us win away this season so my confidence is low. The rugby however was brilliant last night and we are five out of five.

Glad to say I got through Cheltenham without any interest or urges. However just before the rugby last night from nowhere I had to fight for 20 minutes as part of me wanted a bet. Seems so crazy that I've been feeling so strong, my life's picking up as a result, I have a great holiday booked, but wham.....from nowhere an urge comes back and it comes hard. It was a struggle, I got through it and feel good today, but it's a worry!

No urges today and no bets today!

Day 105 and yes everything is ok. I had a dodgy couple of days, from the urges that I had to fight on Friday night to being surrounded by football coupons on the train yesterday. A lad who doesn't usually come was asking me to throw a fiver into his bet. I had to tell him I have a problem and can't gamble, he also kept asking me to pick him a treble. In the end I said I don't want to look at that coupon but will pick three teams from the fixtures on my phone. All three were winning until one conceded a late equaliser, I said to him thats why I don't gamble its a mugs game. However I didn't like being in that situation, felt a little trapped as I was sat on a table on the train with coupons on display and no way out. Anyway fortunately I'm still clean!

The football was awful again and I'm not going to another game while we have this manager. Every game is like groundhog day, same sloppy mistakes and lack of effort week in week out! I'm not wasting another penny on them when none of them show any passion.

No urges today, back in work later and no bets today!

High 5 Phil, as I can read the last 2 days have been unsteady, but here you are on 105 days and winning, to be honest read your post last night and was a little worried for you, but I am sooo pleased it has turned out nice again.

You are stronger than that hideous addiction, and we know we only win by abstaining and maintaining.( even though it's not easy at times HD lol)

Keep going and keep winning your well deserved life back my friend.

Day 106, been in a wierd mood as I was going along so well and that and that mad 20-30 minutes where I craved a bet has thrown me. I don't want to feel like that again, maybe its just part of the journey. As long as I fight hard and make the right choices I will be ok. No bets today!!

Day 107, set myself a new target, I've been drinking too much lately and not making as much progress as I should so its time for me to get my backside into gear. There is no magic day count that will cure me, every day is another day, I need to make the same decisions day in day out. I need to remain in control and fight the urges as they arise. My next ten weeks I need to get back into the healthy eating and start doing more exercise, keep my mind sharp and start feeling better about myself.

No bets today!

Well done on your 107 days phil and sounded like a real effort to not get dragged into it on the train must of been awful anyway on a lighter note see your boys won away from home this evening we need to keep the northern teams in the league unfortunately 4 of the bottom 5 are northerners so will struggle to hold on to em all.

Hi BA,

I guess that is one of the things of being a recovering addict, we will always have tests thrown at us, whether it is temptations when there's nobody else around or when lots of people around are talking about bets. Temptation has been undermining me too over the last few days, the important thing is to get through unscathed and get back on the progressive path.

As for football, I'm almost inclined to say that's a mug's game too... but I think I'll pull back from the brink of that statement, as at least there are occasional highs to go with the disappointments and the mediocre mid table seasons too. Well done on the 107 days, and keep fighting on until they get easier again. Good luck getting fit too, that's always on my "next month" list of things to do.

Day 108, I guess I need to remain focussed and think that the choice I have is an amazing holiday in New York or gambling. I couldn't afford to go if I was to slip up. As well as all the other things I will be able to enjoy. Gambling sucks the soul out of me and I need to stay strong. So no urges today and more importantly no bets.

Mixed feelings about the football last night, good that we won, but annoying that I missed it. I'm still sticking to my guns and not going again under this manager, I've wasted way too much time and money watching us get beat recently.

Thanks for the posts on here, really helpful!

You're not talking about Rugby League having a big match are you? I didn't think that was a sport capable of big games! đŸ˜‰

Just kidding, I've got family up north, and the debate about which type of rugby is real rugby has been ongoing since I became old enough to talk! Glad you're positive and still making the right choices.
