32 days free of gambling

75 days to go (500 to pay off before Nov.)

256 pounds saved.

390 paid off (long term debts)

0 spent on gambling

Money +- in last 112 days = +860

So I'm still being really tight with money and getting frustrated as I do have money in the bank now and am scared to treat myself and buying something nice. Although I want to wait and pay off all cards first, am I pushing myself back to gambling if I get like this or if I do treat myself to something say a new jumper and jeans that I would have to go and gamble to get the money back I spent on it.

I remember many a time after a big win I would go and treat myself knowing full well I was still x amount in debt. Maybe I should reward myself for staying clean for a month. Who knows I'm in town Saturday afternoon so I'll let you know where my head is at then.

Will make it next pay day with cash remaining but then need to focus my mind totally on study as I have been lazy recently and just lying in bed with no motivation. I know you get ups and downs and im definitely at the bottom of one. Hopefully my posts next week will be full of ups. Will not gamble to 'cure' myself, too far down to road to recovery now.

Additional Note - realised later today I still owe parents 300 quid from last month, grr, although I may be able to pay it off 100 a month until Christmas just annoying I forgot about it, no shopping in town today to counteract this 🙁

34 days free of gambling

So a great day today, dad's birthday and had all family round, nice meal and some good catch ups. Also won at football which was something that hasn't happened in 4 weeks. So 5 weeks in and here is my update on my life music:

Life 6/10 (possible cross roads coming up in terms of job but might be what I need)

Family/Friends 7/10 (actually really looking forward to Christmas to spend a lot more time with everyone)

Gambling thoughts 6/10 (still get the odd twang, especially as friends this morning talked about their weekend winnings)

Money worries 7/10 (still high but pay day on Thurs then 4 weeks until my bonus will come in, should go by faster especially with my study to distract and be an excuse for avoiding nights out)

To summarise, feeling so good right now, yes I want a bit more money to treat myself but starting to look at accounts and see how good things will look by Christmas is an amazing motivation.

Sorry for rambling but so happy and want to get my thoughts down so I can read and use this entry as a real driver.

Well the inevitable has happened...no not me gambling but our company is pretty certain to be purchased. Just have to wait a week to find out how long I have left at the business. Have already been in touch with a recruitment agency I've used before and a redundancy package although small will give me a bit of support for any transition next year. The good thing is im not gambling and this won't drive me to start again. Money is too precious right now.

So watched man u v West Brom on tv last night and saw so many adverts for gambling including a site I wasn't banned from. But luckily I have very little spare in my bank due to paying lots of credit cards off. Not worth spending on my credit card either due to the 7.50 transaction fee. Could use that for much better things and I would only lose my bet anyway. Small victory there but there is always the risk once I get paid and have my bonus in my bank. Will sort something out.

37 days free of gambling

Lying in bed thinking of my future and where I might be in a few months time. Hopefully not unemployed but instead using my redundancy pay to pay off some debt and starting a fresh in a career that will pay me a bit more than what I am on now. Our annual results are out today and I'm really hoping they are good so our bonus is good enough to pay off a few things.

Lots of variables ahead but one of them will not be my option to gamble which will continue to be off limits.

Payday, these next 4 weeks should be the last 4 weeks I have to be tight with my money. Cant wait for 20th Nov. Not only is it payday and bonus day it is also my exam day and I will pass this time putting 110% effort in over the next few weeks.

It will also be 66 days clean which is close to 10 weeks free.

Why stop there, next stop 100 days, then a year.

On 20th Nov I should be able to say that I no longer have a problem with gambling. Bit early? Maybe, but my main crutch was pressure of exams and money worries. The 20th of Nov should wipe both those out.

Right off to yet another team day out with work 🙂

Feeling ropey this morning after a night out with work. Spent a bit of money but it doesn't matter as it's payday and had a bit of money left over which was nice.

Slow day at work but looking forward to a weekend of studying and getting myself exam ready which I need.

So my day in the library yesterday was really good, actually had a walk round after studying and got excited about starting to do a bit more reading so hired out a couple of books. Anything that will help me feel normal again, and it's free :).

Slightly annoyed that last night I sat on my pc and looked at a particular website wondering what would be if I put a couple of hundred on a game. Then quickly came to senses and turned the pc off. I think it was just boredom and knowing I had a free hour to use. So went to bed instead.

Congrulations on your 41 days of recovery, we're in the same boat so I know exactly how your feeling.

Block the gambling sites they have nothing for you. Install k9 its free.

Temptation wont ever go away, one day at a time.

Well done

So 6 weeks down feeling a lot better for it. Thank you Stephen for your comments and support, have tried k9 on phone but don't like having a different browser and I have self excluded from every website going.

Busy day today at work followed by some more study tonight. Hope I can make real progress with that tonight to keep my motivation up.

So felt too tired to study last night just watched the horizon programme about the guy who was cured of paralysis. Such an amazing breakthrough. Sort of puts our lives into context we take walking for granted and worry about our money issues which leads us to gamble. We have legs and can walk and do many things which some people cannot and walking is free. Lets not sit/lie in our rooms gambling but do something active and beneficial.

Anyway talking of that, back to my books, need to make some progress this lunchtime.
