Well I am sat at work and exactly a week ago I was spinning myself 2500 into debt! Madness but on the positive side I now have my finances being kept an eye on by my wife. I think it may be something good that came out of it! Still struggling to comprehend that amount however the government have announced today that people my age will work till we are 68!! Only 24 years to go! That's some earning potential! Not gambled for 7 days.

So just checking in after another gamble free day. Just wondering how people cope with spending money after such a horrendous loss. I am going out tonight and have access to money to go out! The 2500 loss was on a credit card and this was arranged before my stupid binge. I am clear that the money has gone and have no thoughts of trying to win it back, all strategies in place in terms of that and also plans to pay back said binge, just wondered how or if people had any experience in this?

G-doggy im so so sorry we have to meet again is such harrowing circumstances i've known you for such a long time. Drinking wise i've been been drinking alcoholically for the past 6 years since the arrival of my first son who's now 6, thats when the drinking AND gambling really took off, i 've managed a few years not gambling but my alcoholism never stopped , it s taken me to hell and back along with the rest of my familly. YOu can read a update from my diary which i updated today. Have you ever tried AA or even counselling , your gambling addiction is progressive AND WILL ONLY GET WORSE. we have to be honest with ourslves and accpet defeat before madness or death takes us. keep posting and lets beat addiction but its only us that can do that, help is out there but we've got to really want it, physicall and mentally i'm in a horrendous state , but this passes and thats when our addictive brains start to plague us telling us it ll be different this time, it never gets better only worse.

take care honesty with your wife is of utmost importance.

Gav, how are you, so good of you to comment. I have been in touch with gamcare about councelling. I honestly thing I have all bases covered and wife knows the actual figure I owe, although not all the reason why. 2500 in an afternoon was one hell of a jolt to me. I'd have done more if my card had allowed me, thank god it didn't. 12 days down. Let's try to buddy up again. Good times ahead mate.

Well I am here at nearly 2 weeks clear. The start of repairing the debts starts Friday on payday. I print off statements and give them to my wife. Cards in her possession. Feel a bit flat today

keep it up and well done for keeping your wife up to date and in control. I am awaiting 2 new cards this week, or next , my wife is scoring out ccv number - if i need anything bought and i can transfer the money and she can buy! Honesty is the way forward- things will improve just keep strong!

Thanks Gav, I feel rubbish today. Completely fed up. Work, home etc. Feeling very sorry for myself. Hoping that it will pass. Two weeks today was the biggest ever loss I have experienced!! Crazy day and few days after. Need to realise that people are a lot worse off than me and I have the opportunity to put this right so long as I leave the FOBT and online slots alone!!!

Checking in as gamble free. Over two weeks now. Fairly settled compared to the madness of 12th July!! Just left with paying off the debts. Pay day today so that's good. Will pay some extra off. Should be nearly debt free by this time next year, so long as I stop now!!!

im just leaving my card in work and not taking them home- so cant gamble as dont know numbers- though off end week for 2 1/2 weeks, im going to have to come clean with my wife thiugh situation is already pretty messed up thru my drinking, so might push over the edge- holidays a biggie could define a lot of things, im interested in this nalfemdene sinclair thingy, meatn to stop urges 80% success rate- for dirnking and gambling as i only gamble when i drink, have always been like that.

Just a quick check in before work. All good. Blocks and exclusions are helping as have had a few thoughts. Wife knowing debt also a help. She'd want to know why they had increased if I gambled and I won't. Be clear this time next year. Looking forward to that check in. Gav I wish you well mate. Are you ok?
